A couple weeks ago we took a tiny road trip to Indiana where Jessica and Robert got married. So much time and effort went into the planning and execution of this wedding, and it really showed! It was such a lovely event for everyone who was able to attend. We started the day at the brides’ parents house capturing her get ready. All of her girls were so fun to work with and willing to help us and do what we needed to keep the day going and everything on track. Jessica looked absolutely stunning in her gown and her hair and make up looked flawless. She had such a great team to help her get ready!
We then headed over to the venue, where the ceremony site + venue were just a short distance from each other. We got to meet the guys there who were a ton of fun to work with! They all looked so handsome and pulled off those white suits so well! It was a fun change to what we normally see in men’s formal attire!
The ceremony was performed by Jessica’s mom’s long time friend. She did an incredible job of keeping things so meaningful and on task. Their ceremony was gorgeous - my favorite part of course was watching Robert absolutely tear up as Jessica walked down the aisle. She looked amazing and it was such an amazing moment watching him watch her - always my favorite of the day, and I selfishly always make my self the photographer on the guy for that moment :)
After the ceremony we did some very quick but awesome formal shots! The stretch hummer drove us around the area and we hopped in and out to photograph at all the places Jessica had planned on. The colors really popped and looked so so pretty against the water and all the areas we stopped. We decided to not go on the beach, but I was so happy that we were still able to get a beach feel!
The reception was absolutely beautiful. The scenery outside was a stunning background for photos, and cocktail hour. When it was time to walk into the reception site - wow! They did an incredible job decorating the space. They completely transformed it for their evening, and they did an amazing job. The night continued with the most energetic entrances I’ve ever seen, some heartwarming speeches and a gorgeous first dance to a song that definitely made me tear up!
I’m so so happy for these two and for the life they have built together. They for sure are surrounded by great friends and family and I wish them lots and lots of well wishes for their new life together! Congratulations!
When Grace and Brian first came to meet with me and told me they were getting married at Carnivale in Chicago, I immediately was secretly thinking “pick me! pick me!” I have always wanted to photograph a wedding there. And pick me they did! Needless to say I was sooo incredibly excited for work that day!
Grace got ready in the most adorable AirBnb that morning with her bridesmaids and mom and mother in law by her side - it was literally the most calm and put together morning of a wedding I have ever seen! Once her veil was in, it was so long it had to be carried around by hanger so it wouldn’t get dirty or tangled, so she literally had a friend by her side the entire morning! Eventually, Grace hid in a side room of the AirBnb, while Brian also got ready until we took them outside for their first look.
What I absolutely adored about these two was their trust in me. I found a random red door across the street and thought it would perfectly mimic the vibe of the bright colors of Carnivale so why not use that as their first look spot? They took my advice and I absolutely love how their first look photos came out, along with their first family portrait - the bride, the groom and their two pooches! I really appreciated them allowing me to just take control of the photos and do what I do best.
From there we went to Carnivale and did their formal photos. I had planned on doing them all inside because of the rainy day forecast but the day stayed rain free for their photos, and I was in photographer heaven using the fun murals and decor of Carnivale. It was such a fun change of scenery! There were so many different sayings and colors it was hard to choose which to use on a time crunch, but we got it done and I love the results.
The ceremony was in the dining room, which is just amazing in terms of decor. Grace came down from the large staircase and guests sat in these colorful, quirky chairs as they wed in front of this huge art piece that worked as the coolest back drop. They were finally married and the party could start!
There wasn’t a dry eye in the room during the speeches, as they were all incredibly thoughtful and well spoken. The evening ended with dancing and lots of pink cotton candy - one of Carnivale’s signatures…. (and the reason I usually go there!)
Grace and Brian walked into my studio as new clients and I felt like I left their wedding as a friend. They were so gracious to both me and my assistant Brianne and at one point Brian said “we just want everyone to have a good time, you guys included” and that for certain is what we and everyone did. Congratulations Grace and Brian!
