Alexa and Matthew got married in late September, on one of those days where you could feel fall was in the air. Their ceremony time was at 11am, which means everyone had to be up with hair and make up done by about 10am. It was an early day for all, but the excitement of what was to come overcame the sleepiness! The morning flowed well, being able to get all of the pre photos done, and everyone to church on time. The day started off a little rainy, but the skies were starting to clear and I could tell it was going to be a gorgeous wedding.
The church was located in Lemont, IL, and was incredibly beautiful, particularly for a wedding. As the wedding started, Matthew's face lit up more and more until the doors opened to reveal his bride. She looked stunning, and it was such a special moment watching her dad walk his little girl down the aisle. As Matthew's smile grew and grew, Alexa and her dad got closer and closer. With a sweet kiss on her hand, dad handed her off and it was time to get these two wed!
Following the ceremony everyone congregated outside the church as Alexa and Matthew had doves to fly. It was a perfect ending to their ceremony, and then it was time for all the formal photographs. We stayed at the church for all the family photos and then headed to the quaint downtown Lemont area for the bridal party photos. The area was filled with green space, a bridge, brick walls...it was a great spot to get a variety of looks in one location. The sky opened up so we didn't have to fight rain, and it made for gorgeous photographs! Luckily Alexa had gifted all of the girls furs, so that helped keep everyone cozy while we worked through getting all these lovely images.
This wedding was unique in that we had a break between the photographs and the reception because the ceremony time was so early. It was a great chance to refresh, regroup for everyone and be ready for an amazing evening of celebrating. The reception was incredible with a great band, a sweets table that you would never believe unless you saw it with your own eyes, and a meat hut - which was something I never saw before, but was a huge hit! The toasts were lovely and her dad's toast of course made me tear up. The night ended with dancing, more dessert, and then it was time for us to say goodbye.
There is so much planning that goes into a wedding, and often I am along for the ride and helping in that process. It was so nice to see Alexa's day come together so nicely as we spent a lot of time talking about logistics and plans. Everything from my lens seemed perfect, most of all, her and Matthew. I wish them lots of love as they start their life together, and I also want to thank Brianne, my second shooter, who helped me capture what is surely to be one of the best days of Alexa and Matthew's lives. Congratulations!!
